GMail Plug-Ins Boomerang and Rapportive

When I come across tools that make my life a little easier, I like to share these with others. Actually, in both examples, I learned about these first from Douglas Karr via the Marketing Tech Blog. Both plugins described below are for use with GMail, in my opinion the greatest email option out there.

Rapportive – Rapportive shows you everything about your contacts right inside your inbox. You can immediately see what people look like, where they’re based, and what they do. You can establish rapport by mentioning shared interests. You can grow your network by connecting on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and more. And you can record thoughts for later by leaving notes. Imagine relationship management built into your email. For free. (text from Rapportive website)

Rapportive is nice to be able to learn a little more about someone with whom I am emailing, along with recent email conversations I”ve had with the person.
Boomerang – Boomerang for Gmail is a Firefox / Chrome plugin that lets you take control of when you send and receive email messages.
Here is a short video:

I’m learning to love this tool more and more. I can “boomerang” messages to show back up in my inbox at a date and time of my choosing. This is especially helpful when I’ve sent a message when I’d like a response within a few days. If no response is received, the message returns to my inbox for me to ping the person again.
The use of Rapportive and Boomerang along with GMail is making my email communications more efficient and meaningful.
